How an Estate or Tag Sale works.

There are many reasons you may be considering having us come out to do a sale for you…

Maybe you've lost a loved one and are responsible for emptying out their place?

Perhaps you are planning to downsize and don't have enough room for your enormous amount of accumulated stuff at the new dwelling?

Or maybe you just have too much stuff. Period.

Regardless of your situation, we can help.

How does it work?

It will normally start with a conversation with Alan. He will work with you to find out exactly what you're looking to achieve and create the best sale possible.

We encourage families to take those items that have sentimental value to them before we assess the home. Once we have contracted with you for an estate sale, we also ask that nothing be removed, since the contract is based on the contents of the estate when our assessment was made.

In general, the more stuff you have, the better the sale. Our customers love just about everything from super fancy items to household junk that you can't believe is still in the drawer from 20+ years ago. We have a buyer for just about anything, so don't go cleaning out the cabinets and drawers before you give us a call… we'll make you money from just about anything you have lying around.

When you're ready to have your sale and we have set the date and signed a contract, the magic begins.

We normally need between 4-10 days (depending on the size of your sale) to place ads, get your space ready and to price and arrange everything.

In addition to placing newspaper and internet ads, we also have a large list of buyers (of just about anything that you may want to get rid of) that we personally contact prior to each sale. These people include, antique dealers, private collectors, professional Ebayers, flea market dealers and pack rats.

At the end of the sale, if there are any antiques left, we can often bring those items to our antique store and give them a second shot over there.

If there are other items lingering, depending on what you discussed with Alan prior to the sale, we can: a) clear out the entire house for you. b) clear out the house and broom sweep for you. c) leave the remaining items in the house for you to do with as you wish.
